Free 1.5 hr parking. Bomb ass einspanner. (really small tho.) Good chill music. Nice baristas. Spacious beautiful interior with a large study table with plugs. Heavy, 6.5/10 chicken pesto panini. best study experience yet in ktown tbh, so serene and peaceful. The fact i am even writing this review is self sabotage, cause then everyone's gonna find out about this place and then it's gonna be crowded and busy and there's gonna be no parking and then I'm gonna hate going here and then I'll have to find another place. But guess what? I love to self sabotage it's somehow in my nature to make everything more complicated and suffer for the sake of others. This is probably something I should bring up in therapy.
Omg!!! That crème brûlée like totally out of this world!!! I can have 4 of those every day seriously!!! You have to stop by and try it. The vibe is so chill you can work for a bit while enjoying your coffee. Must stop by!!!!
We've been coming here for years since we moved to the neighborhood. It's so lovely to have a local spot we can walk to every morning with great coffee, matcha and conversation. The staff and service here is what makes it great to come back to every morning! They say LA doesn't have enough good 'third-spaces' or places out side of home and work where people can catch up and feel like a community but this coffee shop is definitely one of them! You can tell people from all walks to life come here to enjoy coffee and tea and that is a testament to how well they do their job. From older folks, to young students and families. Managers like Jonathan, and people like Fei, Roxy, Kat and truly everyone there make time to memorize your order, ask you how you're doing and I can tell care a lot for the others who work with them making the vibe at the cafe really enjoyable. Their energy makes you want to keep coming back and supporting them! I always love supporting places where I can tell everyone feels proud about their work and I can tell they put a lot of heart into everything they make for us. I love taking my friends and family here bc I know that the staff always takes great care of us and great care of the drinks and food they make. It's so cool to be on a first name basis with them and learn about the drinks. Even my brother who moved here recently now comes often and shares how he enjoys catching up with people there and feels like he's treated as family when he orders. Warm interactions like this is what LA needs more of! I come here almost every morning before work and a big part of why I and many neighbors keep coming back is how sincere and wonderful everyone who works here is and how thoughtful they are about what they serve. My favorite drink is a hot matcha latte and sometimes I get an almond milk cappuccino, their croissant sandwiches are also really delicious and fresh!
The parking situation at this location just takes away from the experience so I had to reduce one star. In addition to that, our drinks were not hot when we received them, just warm. Otherwise, I would say the espresso they use was smooth and they had nice coffee art and ambiance. Though they did have some gluten free pastry options, we can in at about 6pm and there wasn't anything remaining. Service was good and they do seem to be busy and a popular place.
Got a mocha half sweet. It was amazing. Beautiful foam, beautiful latte art...felt bad snapping a lid on the to-go cup! Partner got a tiramisu latte, full sweet, which I tried and found the sweetness level on was also very nice. I wouldn't worry too much about drinks coming out too sweet here in the future. This was a busy busy spot and almost all the tables were full of people working and studying. It's a nice bright, comfortable spot, even so full. Cozy, but not tight, even tho there were many ppl standing waiting for drinks as well. Would definitely come here again in the future, but I'd budget a little more time for to-go if you have anywhere to be
Location: next to Orangetheory. One hour free parking for retail in the gated lot Ambiance: definitely a coffee shop you'd want to sit and work at BUT 1) it gets cold inside, 2) seats are all cramped together because it is a small space, and 3) the chair height to table height ratio can be uncomfortable (or maybe it's just me) Good drinks though and they also sell bags of Onyx beans. My only complaint is they did not give a heads up that the einspanner is not the same size as the other iced drinks.
I think I just discovered my favorite coffee shop to get work done at in Ktown! I ordered the misugaru latte, which at first sip tasted amazing. The sesame has a strong toasted flavor and this is probably my favorite misugaru latte I've had. I almost thought the misugaru/black sesame flavor overpowered the coffee, but as I kept drinking I was able to taste and feel the coffee. They have other unique/specialty drinks here that I'd like to try but I heard their regular latte is just as good! I really enjoyed the ambience here. There are plenty of tables including a long one with outlets. The seats are not only aesthetically pleasing but super comfortable! There is also outdoor seating available. I also like that they offer water to the side because when studying or working for a long time I get thirsty. Love the way this place is decorated and the music they played is exactly what's on my playlist lol.
TBH, I was sleeping on this place. Every time I came to LA, I told myself I was gonna come here and didn't get the chance. But I'm glad I did. It's a super cute, modern coffee spot. There's a few tables outside and some inside. It can get a bit cozy, but I feel that's with all popular coffee spots. I got the Creme Brulee Latte, which I liked because it was mad sweet as I was expecting. There was a lot of people getting the pour overs as well. So if you're a coffee snob, check it out! The staff is hella friendly! Always a plus in the day and age! This place is right in between OrangeTheory and Carving Board
I've probably spent hundreds of hours (and dollars tbh) between both Alchemist locations in Koreatown while studying for licensing exams. I'm continually impressed with the service, quality and atmosphere. I was once charged an accidental fee, and the owner reached out immediately after I submitted a complaint to correct the charge and offer me a free drink on my next visit. My usual orders are the tiramisu latte or crème brûlée latte. Both are very sweet. The Pearl location feels a bit larger, with more seating for small groups or individuals. Spacing is smaller, so the seating can feel tight when it's busy. It's a great spot to study and get work done - the music is never too loud/distracting, and the seating arrangement seems to attract more people coming to work alone (i.e. there aren't many loud conversations or big groups here). My only gripe with this location is that it's always freezing cold.
